Norma Voliva was born on October 25, 1928 in Morris, Illinois to William Agate and Margaret Fessler. Norma passed away in Canby, Oregon, on December 7, 2020 at the age of 92. Norma spent her early days in Morris and graduated from Morris High School in 1946. She worked as a telephone operator. Norma met Clarence (Chet) Voliva in Illinois in the 1950s and they soon married. Chet preceded her in death on June 16, 2016. Norma and Chet lived in La Grange, Illinois while Chet worked for Campbell Soup. The couple moved to McAllen, Texas in 1965 when Chet was promoted by Campbell Soup. The couple moved to Woodburn, Oregon a year later when Chet took a job for Birdseye, a division of General Foods. Norma made many friends in and around Woodburn. She volunteered for the local library. In the 1970s, as Chet neared retirement, the couple bought a piece of property along Highway 99E near Brooks and started Willamette Apples. Chet grew 21 varieties of apples and Norma sold them out of the storefront. Norma enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. In her later years she joined a local gym. She also enjoyed long walks in the neighborhood. Norma and Chet are survived by their two children, Marcia of Portland and Cliff of Wilsonville. Chet is also survived by one son from a prior marriage, Kevin, who lives in Michigan.
