In Loving Memory

Barbara Elaine Van Lieu

August 25, 1937 – May 1, 2022

On the evening of May 1st, 2022 Barbara Van Lieu, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away at the age of 84. She was a resident of Countryside Living in Canby Oregon where she finally lost a long battle with Dementia.

Barbara Elaine Cole was born on August 25th, 1937 in Woodburn, Oregon to Eugene and Maude Cole.  She was raised in Aurora, Oregon and graduated from North Marion High School in 1955 where she met the love of her life.  Barbara married Roger Wayne Van Lieu on April 15th, 1956. They just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary prior to Barbara’s passing.  They raised two sons, Jim and Ray; and have three wonderful grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob and Erica.

Barbara enjoyed a career as a Bank teller in Canby before staying home to raise her two sons.  When her sons were older, she returned to banking as a Teller in Woodburn. She liked cooking, traveling, reading and swimming, but her real passion was her family.  Barbara spent countless hours attending dance recitals, musical programs, track meets, basketball games, volleyball games and soccer games cheering on her grandchildren.  Barbara was known by all for her sweet spirit, friendly smile, cheerful attitude and cleaver sense of humor.  She was an encouragement to everyone around her.

Funeral Service will be held at Canby Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 7th at 11:00 am located at 160 Grant Street, Canby, OR.  Grave side service will follow at the Aurora Cemetery.  Friends and family are welcome.
