Obituary of Norman Charles Fawcett

Norman Fawcett passed away Sunday October 8th ,  Due to worsening lung conditions. He was 95. He moves on to join his wife and family with our lord in heaven.  Norman Fawcett was born April 11th 1928 at home in Wetonka,  South Dakota. The first of 6 children, to Charles and Maude Fawcett.  At around the age of 6, Norman’s family packed up and moved to Molalla Oregon, where some of his mother’s family had already settled. Norman attended maple grove school and Molalla High School for a brief time. Due to Norman’s fathers health, Norman often had to work in the woods or at several of the mills to help support the family. During WWII, Norman also worked in the shipyards of Portland as a welder. He joined the army in 1945 and served until 1947.

The army trained him as a mechanic and after he got out of the army he took over a service station in Portland.  Later a friend got him into hanging drywall. He was good at that and made more money than the service station could. That became his life long career. He loved cars, working on them and racing them. That was one of his passions, but drywall put food on the table.

Norman’s sister Donna introduced him to one of her roommates Beulah Critchlow. Norman and Bea began dating and were married in February 1949. Norm and Bea had three sons. Norman Dale, Mark Daryl, and Wayne Jeff.  They relocated to Pomona,  California because drywall was booming there. In 1961 they moved back to Molalla to a 25 acre farm near Rural Dell. In 1971, after the kids all were grown they sold the farm and moved to 3 acres just south of Molalla off Warrick rd, where they lived until their passing.

Norman owned and operated Molalla Drywall  from 1961 thru 1970. In  1975 Bob Avision hired him as a millwright when Avison started the new mill south of town. He worked for Avison until the early 80’s. Returning to drywall and continuing to hang drywall into his 70’s.

Norman was a charter member of Molalla Moose lodge. He served as jr Govenor, governor, past governor, was a legion member and served as administrator.

Norman was an avid hunter and loved fishing. He was a long time member of Molalla Christian Church.

He was preceded in death, by his wife of 73 years Bea, sons Mark and Norman, daughter-in-law Carmelita (Jeff),  brothers Max and Dick, and sister Donna. He is survived by a son Wayne Jeff,  a brother Larry and sister Shirley, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren..
